Art Murray:
Art Murray is the Co-Owner and Co-Founder of Flambeaux Wine, a family-owned winery based in Healdsburg, California. Originally from New Orleans, Art's professional journey began in environmental law after graduating from the University of New Orleans and Tulane University Law School. He practiced law in New Orleans, focusing on environmental cases, including significant litigation against oil and gas companies for contamination issues.
In 2012, during a visit to his brother-in-law in Healdsburg, Art discovered a property with a vineyard in West Dry Creek. Captivated by the idea of vineyard life, he and his family relocated from New Orleans to Sonoma County, purchasing the property and establishing Flambeaux Wine in 2014 .
Flambeaux Wine/Family:
Flambeaux Wine is a family-owned winery located in Healdsburg, California, within the Dry Creek Valley of Sonoma County. Established in 2014, the winery is a collaborative effort of three generations of the Murray family: grandparents Pattie and Steve, their son Art, his wife Nicole, and granddaughters Alys, Elizabeth, Nia, and Lila. Originating from New Orleans—a city with roots dating back to the 1700s—the Murrays have transplanted their rich traditions of food, celebration, and hospitality to their new home in Sonoma County.
The name "Flambeaux" is inspired by the French word for "flaming torch." Historically, flambeaux were torchbearers who illuminated the streets during New Orleans' Mardi Gras celebrations, adding to the festive atmosphere. This tradition symbolizes the Murrays' commitment to bringing light, joy, and community togetherness to their winemaking endeavors. Flambeaux Wine offers a selection of wines, including Chardonnay, Rosé, Zinfandel, and Cabernet Sauvignon. They also produce estate-grown extra virgin olive oil.
